The Process

Die Casting is a manufacturing process for producing accurately dimensional parts. It is accomplished by forcing molten metal under high pressure into metal dies. These dies can withstand the high metal temperatures.

The steel dies are made into two halves, which are mounted in a machine. One section is stationary and is often called the hot half or stationary. The other half is the ejector or movable half.

Commercial Die Casting Co.- Our manufacturing facility is equipped to handle a variety of product sizes.

The two halves are clamped together by the die casting machine. Molten metal is injected under high pressure into the clamped dies. The molten metal is injected through a sleeve by the Plunger arm of
the casting machine and solidifies rapidly. The die sections are pulled apart by the movable half of the machine. The casting is ejected by the ejector plate with pins that move forward forcing the casting from the movable half of the die. Return pins attached to the ejector plate return the ejector plate to its closed position during the closing stroke of the machine.

The process is the shortest distance from raw materials to finished goods. Die castings offer the
product designer recyclable components with engineering advantages not available in other metal forming processes. Net shape die castings can be produced with thinner walls, and can provide greater strength, and product durability over a longer life cycle. Where lightest weight is an important criterion, die casting alloys can offer excellent strength to weight ratios.
